Information Signs
Signs, created by the Trust, were placed in the pavilion and along the trails of the Cypress Preserve to depict the wildlife and other natural resources of the urban forest.
In an effort to enrich the educational experience at the Greenville Cypress Preserve, thirteen informational signs were carefully crafted and installed throughout the preserve in 2007. These signs, created by the Cypress Preserve Trust and manufactured by Enviro-Signs of Canton, Ohio, provide visitors with valuable insights into the diverse wildlife and natural resources that thrive within this urban forest. Strategically placed in the pavilion and along the scenic trails, the signs serve as both educational tools and visual guides, helping visitors connect more deeply with the environment.
The project was made possible through generous funding from several key supporters, including Monsanto, Entergy, and the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Their contributions were honored during a special dedication ceremony held in 2007, where the community came together to recognize the impact of these signs on preserving the natural beauty and educational value of the preserve.
Building on the success of the initial project, four additional signs were added in 2010, further enhancing the interpretive experience for visitors. These new signs, along with the repositioning of some original ones to more suitable locations along the trails, ensure that the information is both accessible and relevant. Today, numbered signs, complemented by a comprehensive Trail Guide, are available for all who visit the Greenville Cypress Preserve, offering an enriching journey through the wonders of this unique urban ecosystem.
